2023 GMC Sierra: The Most Advanced GMC Sierra Pickup Truck Review

Posted on

2023 GMC Sierra is expected to be a carryover for the 2023 model year, after undergoing a complete refresh inside and out, and with the addition of several new trims brought to the lineup for 2022.

The current generation Sierra was introduced in 2019 and is still considered a relatively new model.

However, with competition from the redesigned Ford F-150 and the upcoming F-150 Lightning EV truck, GMC has stepped up its game with the launch of the new Denali Ultimate and AT4X trims.

For example, Chevy will add the Silverado ZR2 for 2022 as a more off-road-oriented configuration for buyers. GMC’s answer to this is the new AT4X trim, which brings advanced off-road capabilities and comfort.

With the ongoing inventory shortage situation, GMC has shortened the model year 2022 truck and brought back the Sierra Limited, which is a remnant of the 2021 Sierra 1500.

The Sierra 1500 Limited 2022 is currently available to order but is expected to hit showrooms soon. Prices start at $32,895 including destinations.

The all-new 2022 Sierra 1500 is now available for order with a production start date in late August for the Regular and Crew Cabin and a September production start date for the Dual Cabin. Prices start at $34,190 including a $1,695 destination fee.

2023 GMC Sierra Review

The GMC Sierra 2023 rolls into another model year with more power, more technology, more luxury, and even more towing capacity to compete with fierce rivals like the Ram 1500, Ford F-150, and Toyota Tundra.

2023 GMC Sierra

New from a major overhaul for the 2022 model year, the latest Sierra 1500 pickup can be anything from a relatively simple and workhorse truck to a truck designed to overcome any obstacle, or an elegant perch filled with leather, micro-suede, and exposed. . -cut the word power.

For starters, GMC revamped the front grille, and front bumper, and added new LED headlights to give the Sierra 1500 a more modern look.

But the biggest changes were kept to the engine bay, cabin design, and the addition of completely new models like the off-themed AT4X. road and the luxurious Denali Ultimate.

The Sierra 1500 2023 is available with a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-6, 5.3-liter V8, and 6.2-liter V8.

With the latest upgrade, GMC engineers tuned the 4-cylinder turbo to deliver significantly more torque than before, while towing capacity with the available turbodiesel jumped to 13,200 pounds (up from 9,200 pounds, the powertrain’s previous maximum tow rating).

The new AT4X trim gives the 2023 Sierra 1500 the go-anywhere ability thanks to locking front and rear differentials, underbody skid plates, and Goodyear all-terrain tires.

At the top of the Sierra, the lineup is Denali Ultimate. It comes loaded with luxury touches like a 13.4-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, leather seating, wood trim, massage front seats, 22-inch alloy wheels, and a Super Cruise hands-free driving system.

2023 GMC Sierra Redesign

The GMC Sierra 2023 is expected to bring minor changes to the Light-Duty Sierra 1500 model after a major refresh for the 2022 model year.

Meanwhile, the Heavy-Duty Sierra 2500HD and Sierra 3500HD models were originally set to receive a major refresh for 2023 – including new front and rear designs, a new interior, along with potential powertrain updates – however, the product cycle is now lagging by the model year due to complications. caused by COVID-19 and the shortage of superconducting chips.

Apart from that, HD is currently performing very well in the market. As such, the HD model will also see minor changes for the 2023 model year.

GMC Sierra 1500 – Minor changes follow a substantial update as part of a mid-cycle upgrade/refresh for the 2022 model year.

2023 GMC Sierra Platforms

Sierra Light Duty 2023 will continue to run on the GM T1 platform which is most widely used alongside the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500.

The same basic architecture is also used on the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV.

Sierra Heavy Duty 2023 will continue to use a more capable version of the same GM T1 platform

The sky is the limit when it comes to adding options to a modern pickup truck. That’s true with the 2023 Sierra and its eight main trims: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate.

Look for the newly added AT4X to have an asking price of around $75,000, while the top-of-the-line Denali Ultimate is estimated to start at around $81,000. That’s a lot of money, although the Denali Ultimate is also a full-size truck.

Preceding Part

Interestingly, the GMC Sierra 1500 is expected to be refreshed for the 2023 model year. Based on recent reports that GMC plans to shorten the truck’s 2022 model year and possibly bring back the Sierra Limited, we expect the upgrade major day could go on sale in early 2022.

Preliminary production data suggests GMC will begin building the 2022 Sierra at the end of September this year. If this turns out to be the case, it may take months after that for the updated pickup to be available. Unfortunately, no official information has yet been released.

The current generation of Sierra was introduced in 2019 and is still considered a relatively new model. However, with competition from the redesigned Ford F-150 and the upcoming F-150 Lightning EV truck, GMC may need to step up its game significantly. Time can be a big factor.

For example, Chevrolet will add the Silverado ZR2 for 2022 as a more off-road-oriented setup for buyers. Since Sierra already offers the AT4 model, it’s still unclear what GMC has planned. The same goes for the Sierra 2023’s price and trim levels, which have yet to be released.

We don’t yet know if GM will create another situation where the old model and the new model are sold simultaneously. This is evident with the latest model redesign where the 2019 model year features a new Sierra and an outgoing truck version called Sierra Limited.

2023 GMC Sierra

The 2023 GMC Sierra is expected to make minor changes to the Light Duty Sierra 1500 model after a major refresh for the 2022 model.

Meanwhile, the Heavy Duty Sierra 2500HD and Sierra 3500HD models will receive major updates for 2023, including new front and rear designs, a new interior, as well as potential powertrain updates.

The minor changes follow a substantial update as part of a mid-cycle upgrade/refresh for the model year 2022.

Substantial update as part of a mid-cycle upgrade/refresh for the model year 2023.

2023 GMC Sierra HD Refresh

The GMC Sierra HD family of Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD has been completely overhauled (redesigned and redesigned) for the 2020 model year. Since then, truck sales have been like hotcakes, with sales increasing 23.2% to 73,777 units during the calendar year. 2020.

Besides the performance of the truck in the market, it is not without some drawbacks, which is why GM is giving it a refresh. GM Authority first announced that the Sierra HD will be refreshed, as will its Light Duty sibling, a model year after the Sierra 1500. Today we bring you the first photos of the 2023 GMC Sierra HD refresh.

The prototype seen here is heavily disguised. Everything in front of the A-pillar and behind the C-pillar is covered in thick vinyl camouflage. Using 18-inch steel wheels, this particular prototype is likely the Sierra HD trim – the base model in the lineup.

It also appears to be fitted with the X31 off-road package, matching the Hankook Dynapro MT2 tires, Rancho monotube shocks visible at the rear, and skid plates on the underbody.

The front end of this 2023 GMC Sierra HD prototype features a set of replacement headlights as well as a new grille. The rear appears to retain the rear bumper from the current model while receiving a new set of taillights. The sheet metal of the box or tailgate is unlikely to change. The same goes for BedStep, which was introduced alongside Sierra HD 2020.

More importantly, the interior of this 2023 GMC Sierra HD prototype is fully covered, unofficially confirming that a new cockpit is on the way. The redesigned cockpit will feature an all-new center console with a new screen running an all-new operating system.

It wouldn’t be out of the question to expect a brand new digital dashboard/gauge cluster, along with a host of other interior changes and upgrades that should generally follow those of the 2022 GMC Sierra.

As a bonus, we’ve heard that GM is working on updating its powertrain lineup for the 2023 GMC Sierra HD. We’ll have more on that later.

2023 GMC Sierra Spied

We’re back with more spy photos, this time of the 2023 GMC Sierra HD. While the vehicle is largely covered and camouflaged, we’ll have fun guessing what changes are to come.

After all, they usually hide things that change, right?

Look at these wheels. It’s really hard to tell them apart from the wheels on their own as they can take everything for testing. While we haven’t spied on the skid plates, we do think when you see the Rancho shocks in the video you’ll agree that this is probably an AT4 or similar mid-level package.

It looks like the 2023 GMC Sierra HD might have redesigned headlights and taillights – and maybe a new grille. (Gee, do we expect this built-in truck to have wardrobe malfunctions now and then!)

As for the interior, we think it’s likely to be very similar to the GMC Sierra 1500’s makeover. We saw photos of it earlier this week, but we’ll be showing it again in this video!

GMC still uses the controversial mirror. And when it comes to antennas, it looks like the old style sticks for that too.

From what we can see in the photos, the rear bumper will likely be the same or very similar to the previous model, and it looks like this one may have a Multi-Pro Tailgate.

2023 GMC Sierra 1500

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, General Motors has notified dealers that the arrival of the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has been delayed, with a continuation model of the GMC Sierra 1500 Limited set to replace it.

GM is currently developing a mid-cycle update (MCE) version of the T1 GMC Sierra 1500 platform, which will receive revised exterior styling, an overhauled interior, and other changes and updates. However, the updated GMC Sierra 1500 will not be ready for the start of the 2022 model year.

So a Sierra 1500 Limited model based on the pre-updated Sierra 2021MY will be sold instead. This follow-up truck will be an abbreviated model year and will carry every aspect of the 2021 Sierra 1500, including the model, trim and available options and features.

With the GMC Sierra 1500 Limited set to serve as a stop-gap for the updated model, the updated GMC Sierra 1500 could be a 2022,5 or 2023 model year product. Production of the 2022MY GMC Sierra Limited will start in September this year.

When the T1 GMC Sierra 1500 platform was released for the 2019 model year, GM also offered a cheaper model called the GMC Sierra 1500 Limited, which was based on the previous-generation Sierra 1500. That means it’s not the first time.

GMC relies on the “Limited” nomenclature when introducing new or updated versions of its popular light-duty pickups.

As we reported in May, GM was forced to delay the arrival of the updated Chevy Silverado 1500 2022 and GMC Sierra 1500 2022 due to a shortage of microchips. At the time, we thought a carryover model from 2021MY could be a potential solution to this problem amid chip shortages, so it seems our hunch was right.

That said, there’s no word yet on whether the updated 2022 Silverado will also be delayed, or whether the Silverado will receive a similar carryover configuration to the Sierra 1500 Limited.

As a reminder, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 2022 will initially introduce several updates, including new front and rear fascia designs, new wheel designs for select trims and models, new exterior colors, and a completely revamped interior with a new look. dashboard, center stack, center console, and a larger infotainment screen.

The refresh is also expected to introduce GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance system to the pickup and both are expected to migrate to the new Global B/Vehicle Intelligent Platform.

2023 GMC Sierra Interior

The GMC Sierra 1500 is set for a full model refresh with the upcoming 2023 model year, and among the new model’s list of changes and updates, a total interior remodels stands out as one of the biggest highlights.

From the outset, it’s important to note that the model featured here is Denali’s highest trim level, as demonstrated by the grille treatment, full-length chrome running board, and chrome tow hooks on the front fascia.

This is important because the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 can distinguish between Denali trim and non-Denali trim with a unique center stack layout, similar to the interior differentiation applied between the GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon Denali.

Moving on inside, we see that the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali got a stack of centers overhauling a total overhaul, which Authority GM was the first to report back in February 2020.

For example, the air vents are now horizontally oriented and located at the top of the center stack, below which is a wide center infotainment screen with physical controls located on the left.

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will feature Google Android Automotive OS (AAOS) for infotainment and will include search capabilities and cloud-connected apps that will initially be offered with GMC’s 2022 Hummer EV pickup.

Below the center, the screen is the HVAC panel, which houses several hard switches and buttons with titles tilted towards the driver and passenger. Notably, the panels appear to be similar to the current Sierra 1500 pickups and newer.

Behind the steering wheel, the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali boasts a digital instrument panel, as previously described, while the column-mounted gear selector has been removed in favor of the console-mounted shifter, as GM Authority previously reported.

Tech specs will also include an option for GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous drive system, which, as previously confirmed, offers hands-free vehicle operation on select highways in North America.

This particular model, however, is not equipped with Super Cruise, as indicated by the lack of a Super Cruise strip located along the top of the steering wheel.

2023 GMC Sierra AT4

What Is AT4 Sierra Spy photography from the updated 2023 GMC Sierra HD has been captured once again. This time around, the captured truck is an interesting mix of trim levels we’ve never seen before.

A new prototype for the upcoming update of the GMC Sierra HD truck has caught testing, and it shakes up a strange mix of attributes that begs the question.

We call it the AT4/Denali mashup, which probably signifies a wider palette of materials for those looking to blend signs of ruggedness and high-end flair.

The Sierra HD prototype has a red AT4 tow hook peeking out of the front camouflage, suggesting this is a Sierra HD AT4 trim. Rancho shocks, and Goodyear Wrangler TraillRunner AT tires further support the AT4 story or at least an off-road-focused package.

The prototype’s uncovered grille is visible through the camouflage and appears to have a Denali tone—with plenty of grille detailing instead of the chunky, segmented look found across current Sierra HD trim levels.

The grille looks dark here, not blingy, but we can’t say if this is for aesthetic reasons, or because this is an early prototype trying to keep details from being too noticeable.

There are other chrome details on the truck, such as the chrome wheels and the unique eight-spoke black. There are also chrome side ladders that match those available on the Denali and other trims but are distinctly different from the Black Sport ladder, or the black high-pitched ladder available on the AT4.

GMC Sierra Denali HD 2023

The 2023 GMC Sierra Denali This new prototype represents our best look at the mid-cycle upgrade of the GMC Sierra HD, with some interesting styling elements on display.

However, these items do not appear to match the combinations available in the current Sierra HD lineup. This will likely become clearer when various grille designs start appearing on future GMC Sierra HD prototypes, and we can start to paint a more accurate picture of what will be available next year.

Until then, check out and enjoy these latest visuals in the updated Sierra HD.

More importantly, the interior of this GMC Sierra HD 2023 prototype is completely covered, informally confirming that a new cockpit is on the way. The revamped cockpit will feature a completely new center console with a new screen and a completely new operating system.

It would be nice to expect a new digital gauge/instrument cluster, as well as a host of other internal changes and improvements that typically follow the changes in the 2022 GMC Sierra.

As a bonus, we’ve heard that GM is working on updating its powertrain lineup for the GMC Sierra HD 2023. We’ll talk about that later.

The 2023 GMC Sierra HD is expected to launch in the second half of 2022 as the 2023 model year.

2023 GMC 2500 Redesign

The GMC Sierra HD family, which includes the Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD, has been completely redesigned (redesigned and redesigned) for the 2020 model. Since then, truck sales have grown like hotcakes by 23.2% to 73,777 units in a year. the calendar year 2020.

In addition to the specifications of the pickup that hit the market, it had some limitations, which is why GM updated it. GM Authority first announced that the Sierra HD would be updated, like its sister Light Duty, one year after the Sierra 1500. Today we bring you photos of our first build. GMC Sierra HD 2023 Update.

The prototype seen here is heavily disguised. Everyone in pillar A and pillar C was wearing heavy vinyl camouflage suits. With 18-inch steel wheels, this particular prototype could be a version of the Sierra HD – the base model in the lineup.

It also appears to be equipped with the OffRoad X31 package, which features superb Hankook Dynapro MT2 tires, Rancho monotube shocks visible from the rear, and an underbody sled.

The front of this GMC Sierra HD 2023 prototype is equipped with replaceable headlights along with a new grille. The rear appears to have retained the current model’s rear bumper and also received a new set of taillights. Body panels or rear doors are unlikely to change. It’s the same as BedStep featured in Sierra HD 2020.

2023 Sierra 1500

The 2023 Sierra 1500 is expected to get a refresh for the 2023 model year. Based on recent reports that GMC plans to shorten the model year 2022 truck and possibly bring back the Sierra Limited, we predict that a major update could go on sale sometime in early 2022.

2023 GMC Sierra EV

GMC’s Hummer EV is just the start of the brand’s electric pickup journey, as we now know there will be a second model after the Hummer shortly – likely similar to the upcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV, the unnamed GMC pickup could adopt the map.

The Sierra name already exists or could introduce a new nickname. For now, let’s assume it will just be called the Sierra EV. It will be a full-size pickup to compete with the Ford F150 Lightning and will likely be cheaper and more work-oriented than the expensive, high-performance off-road Hummer.

What’s new in 2023 EV Truck
The GMC will be completely new and use the latest EV components from General Motors and likely stand out from the Chevy Silverado in terms of styling inside and out.

We don’t know what trim levels the GMC will offer, but we believe the lower-end model will offer better value for money, as it’s meant to be an everyday truck than the GMC Hummer EV, which hits the low end of the price range. . when fully charged. That said, the luxury-focused Denali model is just a certainty.

  • Base $55,000 (est)
  • SLE $60,000 (est)
  • SLT $70,000 (est)
  • Denali $75,000 (est)

GMC Sierra EV Engine 2023

The GM Ultium battery will power the pick-up electric motor in a variety of configurations. a rear-wheel-drive engine is likely to become standard, with optional all-wheel drive in the form of a two-engine configuration with one engine at the front and one engine at the rear. GMC trucks can offer more powerful three-engine configurations like the Hummer at higher trim levels.

GMC Sierra EV Battery 2023

There’s no word yet on the different Ultium battery capacity levels, but we’re sure GMC will offer a variety of battery sizes. The smaller battery will provide less driving distance but should still deliver more than 200 miles on a single charge. , which can reach 200.0 kWh, maybe close to the estimated 400-mile radius, but we’ll have to wait for the EPA ratings to confirm. Fast charging capability will likely be available.

Sierra Release Date 2023

The GMC Sierra 1500 is expected to receive an update for the 2023 model year. Based on recent reports that GMC is planning to cut its range of trucks to 2022 and possibly bring back the Sierra Limited, we speculate that a major update might someday go on sale… as early as 2022.

Preliminary data suggest that GMC will start construction on Sierra 2022 at the end of September this year. In this case, the updated truck will be on sale in a few months. Unfortunately, there is no official information yet.

The current-generation Sierra was introduced in 2019 and is still considered a relatively new model, however, given the competition from the redesigned Ford F150 and the upcoming F150 Lightning EV pickup, GMC may have to step up its game significantly. Time can be an important factor.

For example, Chevy will add the Silverado ZR2 in 2022 as an off-road setup for buyers. Since Sierra already offers the AT4 model, it’s not clear what GMC has planned. Likewise, the price and trim levels of the Sierra 2023 are yet to be released.

We still don’t know if GM will create another situation where new and old models are sold simultaneously. This is reflected in the redesign of the last model, where the 2019 model offers a new Sierra and a pickup version. It’s called Sierra Limited.

Sierra 2500HD Release Date 2023

Expect the 2023 GMC Sierra HD to launch in the second half of the 2022 calendar year as the 2023 model.

GMC Sierra Price 2023

The 2023 GMC Sierra Pro Work Truck is ready for another model year without changing a thing. The absence of these changes includes the affordable starting price of the Sierra HD Pro, which will likely start at $ 38,895 for the single-cab 2500HD.

In a market where used truck prices are skyrocketing, it’s good to know that you can always buy a new truck for a reasonable price. Because absolutely no change for the new year model is very attractive to potential truck customers.

According to the CarsDirect.com team, GMC Sierra HD customers are set for a good 2022 model year. The GMC Sierra HD Pro is the name given to GMC work trucks stripped down for heavy-duty jobs. It includes several 2500 and 3500 Sierra configurations that can be customized to meet specific job requirements.

At the entry-level, our Speculation 2023 Sierra 2500HD Pro will voluntarily have an MSRP of $ 38,895. This gives you a regular cabin in a 4×2 configuration. The Crew Cab adds $ 2,600 for an MSRP of $ 40,495, while the Crew Cab starts at $ 42,295. Prices for the larger 3500HD Pro start at $ 39,095, $ 41,895, and $ 43,495, respectively.
