2022 GMC Sierra Interior: New Sierra Interior Redesign Looks Like

2022 GMC Sierra Interior  The upcoming GMC Sierra 1500 2022 will provide a significant refresh set to include a revised front fascia design. Now, we’re getting our first look at the light-duty Sierra Denali sans camo updated thanks to the following leaked images.

While this new leaked image is a little fuzzy, it still gives us a good idea of what the front look of the upcoming GMC Sierra Denali 1500 2022 will look like.

Compared to the current 2021 model year, the upcoming 2022 GMC Sierra Denali 1500 features a new grille design that is squarer and smoother, compared to the “notches” seen along the bottom of the current grille design.

The new front also sports redesigned headlamps, which now have long exposures that accentuate the lower fascia stylization. The silver accent lower on the bumper is now black.

Last week, we brought you fresh spy shots of the upcoming 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation and 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation with the X31 Off-Road Package. Today, we saw the GMC Sierra Denali 1500 2022 wear production-spec parts, giving us our best look at the front fascia, including details on the grille and headlamps.

Even though the prototype is well camouflaged, we can still see some important grille details showing. Compared to the 2019-2022 Sierra Denali, the grille on the GMC Sierra Denali 2022 appears to have a more square shape, eliminating Sierra’s current tapered grille treatment that narrows to the bottom of the grille. In fact, the shape of this new grille seems to follow the unit used in the GMC Sierra HD.

As for the grille itself, the prototype appears to have five horizontal stripes that look like a chain effect. In comparison, the current model has a fine mesh chrome grille that is separated into three segments.

On top of that, we can see that this GMC Sierra Denali 2022 prototype features production-spec headlights, but the camouflage sorcerer does a great job of making sure the wrap covers the lighting changes in the store.

The upcoming GMC Sierra 1500 2022 refresh will feature a variety of changes and updates over the current 2019-2021 vehicle, including styling revisions with a new front end, a new tail light design, and possibly a new rear bumper.

More importantly, the GMC Sierra 2022 refresh will also include a revised interior with a new dashboard, new center stack, new center console and new storage features, plus a larger center infotainment screen, and a new gauge cluster with options for a digital instrument panel.

The updated GMC Sierra 1500 2022 is expected to launch later in the 2021 calendar year sometime in the August term. Meanwhile, the GMC Sierra Heavy Duty 2022, including the 2500HD and 3500HD, will continue with only minor changes compared to the fully updated light-duty 1500 model. The Sierra HD model, however, is expected to get a refresh for the 2023 model year.

2022 GMC Sierra Exterior

Apart from the redesigned front end, the updated GMC Sierra 2022 is also expected to introduce a new rear fascia, new wheel designs for certain models and trim levels, and some new exterior colors as well.

Beyond the exterior styling changes, this upcoming pickup will introduce a new cabin design, including a revamped dashboard, center stack, infotainment screen and center console. The pickup gauge family will be redesigned and will offer fully digital display options, while the column shifting will be replaced with a new gear selector. Further updates will include new interior storage and the introduction of a larger sunroof option.

Under the skin, the GMC Sierra 1500 2022 will migrate to the new Global B electrical architecture, while the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous drive system will be offered as an optional addition to the Denali trim levels. The upcoming Sierra is also expected to see an increase in payload capacity and a potential increase in crane capacity as well.

2022 GMC Sierra Interior Redesign

When the new Silverado and Sierra GM pickup trucks for 2019 appeared on the scene, they were praised in several categories except for one – interior.

Ram boasts a Jumbotron infotainment system and sumptuous interior trappings, while Ford recently unleashed the F-150 2021 with a few cab tricks of its own. The GM accommodation, while flawlessly serviced, was the most recognizable of all.

A peek at the company’s fleet order book for the 2021 model year seems to indicate those hoping for a Silverado / Sierra reno job may have to wait until 2022.

According to the information, the truck infotainment system remains capped at 8 inches, even in the hippest High Country and Denali.

This strongly suggests the 2021 truck will not receive a Tahoe / Yukon 2021 overhaul until next year, as drivers of such machines enjoy the 10.2-inch screen.

There’s some good infotainment news, however, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay available on all but the most basic models.

In Canada, there will also be a minor interior trim shuffle variation, with bucket seats appearing as a previously unavailable option and some color combinations disappearing from the list of options.

Also new is the Essential Safety Package that appears as an option on even the most basic Chevy Work Trucks, providing pickups such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and front pedestrian braking.

The new model year will also see some of the usual changes to the truck’s paint palette, such as Red Quartz being swapped for Cayenne Red at GMC and Cajun Red being replaced with Cherry Red in Chevrolet.

Unless your knowledge of GM trucks is close to that of a Rainy Man, you won’t even notice.

Engine selection and power ratings seem to stay the same, starting from the base 4.3L V6 producing 285 hp; into the hands of god, the 6.2L V8 produces 420 ponies.

It seems that the inline-six turbodiesels, while remaining available at the same trim levels, no longer requires selecting the fiddly little option package. Whether this is due to wider availability or slightly different levels of standard equipment is unclear.

The prototype model seen here wears ample camouflage on the front which completely obscures the changes underneath. However, the exterior design updates will pale when compared to what is available for the interior, as well as the various in-vehicle technologies.

Inside, the GMC Sierra 2022 is expected to feature a revised cockpit, complete with a center stack similar to the one on the 2021 GMC Yukon.

That will include a revised infotainment system cluster running the same general software as the current Sierra 1500 models, 2019, 2020, and 2021, albeit presented on different and potentially larger screens.

What’s more, expect a range of upgrades in the gauge cluster department, with the fully digital gauge cluster or the larger Driver Information Center, displays being offered.

Additionally, GM’s semi-autonomous Super Cruise system will eventually make its way to the GMC Sierra 2022, enabling hands-free driving on the road.

The GMC Sierra 2022 will have a suitable job for that, as it goes against the well-received Ram 1500 as well as the all-new Ford F-150 2021.

Similar updates are expected for Sierra’s corporate cousin and T1 platform partner, the Chevrolet Silverado.

Despite criticism of the interiors of the all-new models unveiled for the 2019 calendar year, the GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado are selling well.

Sierra sales rose 10 percent to 106,833 units during the first six months of the calendar year 2020, while Silverado sales have increased 4 percent to 267,166 units during the same period.
